Carefree Park is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to acquire the 48-acre parcel of Arizona State Land, and to preserve it as an open desert space for residents and visitors to enjoy. This is the last remaining large parcel of accessible natural Sonoran Desert open space in Carefree. It is home to over 250 mature Saguaros, and is a wildlife habitat and corridor for bobcats, coyotes, deer, javelinas and more. A segment of the historic Stoneman Road Military Trail, which bisects the land and is still visible today, has been recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. Keeping this beautiful land as natural open space will conserve over 4 million gallons of water per year. It is a treasure to be preserved before it's too late.
